Anna applying for school

Anna and her older sister Norra live together with their single mother. Anna's mother has an income of just under USD 250.00 per month.

This income is barely enough to rent a flat in one of the poorest areas of Hanoi. It is already tight for food for the family of three every month.

Norra's mother usually cannot pay Norra's monthly school fees and has to go into debt. In her great need, the mother of the two children has turned Anna's birth certificate into money and sold it to another family - unimaginable for us!

Anna now has to bear the consequences: without a birth certificate she cannot enrol in school and remains excluded from education and a self-determined future.

This is exactly where we come in: In Hanoi, we run our own class with supplementary lessons. We offer classes in English, drawing and computer science.

Thanks to our class, Anna has minimal access to education. Not to mention the social contacts with other children and our volunteer teachers.
